Danube Gorge and Remote Mountain Villages - Active tour from Arad

If you have two days to explore interesting sites of Romania and if you are active, you should join this unforgettable trip.

The old Danube will mesmerise us with the stories, the impressive history, and the stunning landscapes with the trail carved through the mountains. Between May-October, you'll explore a wild cave and enjoy a boat ride in the gorge. Between October-May, I'll take you to a different route along the river banks and visit some hidden waterfalls near Moldova Noua. All season you'll see the beautiful cliffs, hike above the gorge, admire King Decebal's statue.

Not far away from the Danube is Cerna Valley National Park. Here you'll have a trip back in time. You may find this hard to believe but at only 2 hours from the civilization we will find hamlets that are completely isolated, without electric power, no roads, the only points of access are wooden 4 ladders, vertically attached on the rock. Oh well, they really exist, and they are not a tourist trap.

More than this, you'll enjoy a home made lunch with the locals.
Day 1 : We'll pick you up from your hotel in Timisoara.
- Depending on the season we'll drive on different routes to the Danube Gorge. (approx 3 hours with stops).
- We'll have a full day of photo stops, hike above the gorge,
- stop at King Decebal Statue,
- Hidden waterfalls near Moldova Noua (October-May),
- Ponicova wild cave and boat ride (May-October).

Day 2 : Drive further to Cerna Mountains. We will leave the car behind and hike for 2.5 hours to Inelet and Scarisoara mountain villages.
- We will enjoy the amazing landscapes of Cerna and Mehedinti mountains but also learning about these people's simple and self-sufficient lives.
- We will have lunch at one of the local's house, where you'll be impressed by their stories from of everyday life and find out what they do on a daily basis, and how they manage in such a remote area.
- Hike back to the car.

Departure points: Arad or Timisoara. We reserve the right to change the itinerary depending on the weather and for the safety of the participants.
