Kayak on Vidraru Lake

Our mountains are wild and picturesque, and we wonder, what could be more beautiful and spectacular than gliding through them on the water in a touring kayak? Vidraru Lake stretches at the foot of the Făgăraș Mountains. We have two days to uncover its secrets, so book your spot and join us on the water!

You can also join us for just one day, but since you've made the trip out here, wouldn't it be better to stay a bit longer? Plus, there's a concert in the evening. So, what do you say—does it sound good?

Vidraru Lake lies between the Frunții Mountains and Ghițu Massif, collecting waters from the Capra and Buda rivers and other direct tributaries. The lake was formed in 1965 on the Argeș River after the Vidraru Dam was constructed.

Itinerary:
On Saturday morning, we’ll meet at the designated spot on the shore of Vidraru Lake. Once we arrive, we’ll pack our gear into the kayaks and go over a quick briefing for the trip. We’ll learn paddling basics and essential safety tips for being on the water.

Then, we’ll head out in the kayaks toward the Călugărița waterfall on a journey of about 4 hours. There’s plenty of time to relax on the lake’s clear waters, in a storybook-like setting surrounded by mountains and forests.

In the evening, we’ll dock back where we started, leave the kayaks on the shore, and get ready for the evening festivities. The artistic program begins with songs, stories, and great vibes. We’ll have the trusty guitar, and hopefully, some voices to match!

On Sunday morning, we’ll enjoy breakfast before preparing for departure. This time, we’ll paddle approximately 10 km, still surrounded by mountains and forests.

During this 2-day tour, we’ll stay in cabins by the lake. The cabins are simple, so we recommend bringing your own sleeping bag. For those looking for more comfort, rooms are available in a larger cabin, but please contact us in advance for availability.

For participants joining only for one day, the price is 250 lei per person.

Included: kayak, life jacket, paddle, and photos. We’ll also have other camping gear, such as a solar charger for phones, hammocks, etc., which you can use.

Not included: transport and accommodation. Accommodation can be made at the Cumpăna cabin.

What We’ll Do and Where: We’ll kayak on Vidraru Lake, enjoy guitar music around a campfire in the evening, take photos, breathe fresh mountain air, and relax!
Accommodation: camping tents.
Duration: 1 or 2 days (your choice).
Cost: 250 lei per day or 550 lei for 2 days (includes the evening campfire, food cooked over an open fire, guitar music, etc.).
