Dobrogea and Delta experiences in 7 days - tour from Sulina

Dobrogea, Danube Delta and Black Sea: 7 magical days with unforgettable experiences on wild canals and beaches, fortresses, churches and local gastronomy.

We set off to discover Dobrogea and the Delta, starting our experience in the Mahmudia region, Beștepe village, 7 magical days discovering monasteries (Saon, Cocos and Celic Dere) fortresses (Enisala, Halmyris, Argamum) and the wine cellars with Aligote varieties, starting on canals and lakes with fairytale landscapes, reaching the sea and the wild beach of Sulina. This brings us to Europe's easternmost city; “where the old Danube loses both its water and its name in the sea.” (Jean Bart, Europolis).

Day 1
We arrive in the village of Beștepe where we find an extraordinary view over the Sf. Gheorghe arm from its right bank. Around noon we can occupy our rooms. We can enjoy peacefulness, sun and a dinner based on traditional fish products.

Day 2
After breakfast served on the sunny terrace, we prepare to discover the sights of Dobrogea, a region full of history, culture, religion and flavour. We will take a quick stop at the wine cellar where we will taste the organic wines from the region's Aligote varieties.
As the producer tells us, this variety finds here the best conditions for development and it is perfectly paired with dishes made from fish products of the region (minimum group of 10 persons).

Day 3
The main word of the day is relaxation either by the pool or exploring Dobrogea or the canals of the Delta, so you can opt for:
- lake and canal trips (3.5h - 110 lei/adult, 55 lei/child);
- excursion to Sf. Gheorghe (with visit of the village, the beach of Sf. Gheorghe, the place where the Danube flows into the sea into the Black Sea (6-8 hours - approximately 200 lei/ adult and 100 lei/ child) and lunch menu traditional lunch at the locals, 60 lei/ person (traditional aperitif, two main courses and dessert) or at the bar situated on the beach;
- excursion to the Caraorman Forest (170 lei/ adult and 80 lei/ child);
- visit to the fortresses of Enisala, Halmyris, Argamum and Jurilovca, the starting point to Gura Portiței (on request). At the end of the day, we will watch the sunset from the terraces of the guesthouses in the area, we will enjoy the panorama over the Sf. Gheorghe arm and we will have a fish cure, as it suits a tourist arriving in the area.

Day 4
After breakfast, we board the transfer boats and after a trip of maximum 2 hours, we will arrive in Sulina, where we will be able to pick up our rooms. We can opt for the excursion to the point where Danube flows into the Black Sea, spectacular by its route - the outfall - Turgut wreck - Pasărilor island - Musura Bay - return to Sulina, the trip will start around 18:00 to capture the unique sunset on Musura Bay (optional: 75 lei/person, children under 11 years pay 50% of the price).

Day 5
After breakfast, you can enjoy the charm of Sulina, a bike ride, taxi or walk to the wild beach. On the way you pass the cosmopolitan cemetery, a unique place in terms of cultural richness in Romania or, optionally, you can enjoy a boat trip:
- on the Rosu Rosulet lakes, 3-hour trip 75 lei/person;
- to the Persian village of Mila 23, 6–7-hour trip 135 lei/person;
- to the fishing village of Sf Gheorghe, 6–7-hour trip 125 lei/person;
- kayaking on the narrow canals, 3-hour trip, 125 lei/ person.

In the evening, the tour of Sulina is offered by the Discover Sulina Association, after which you can enjoy the atmosphere of the waterfront in a Greek atmosphere. However, life in this small cosmopolitan port is original and interesting.

Day 6
We have breakfast and set off on a hike to the Letea Forest, famous for its sand dunes and wild horses.
After the boat stops at the fishing village of Cardon/ Letea, we drive through a prairie area to the forest entrance, either by jeep or traditionally by horse-drawn cart.
The sand dunes on which the forest sits represent the former bottom of the Black Sea, from thousands of years ago. On the way back, we can serve traditional fish lunch (traditional fish soup, main course and dessert, menu 60 lei/ person in one of the gastronomic centres in the region).
In the afternoon, you can relax and go shopping; you will find handmade souvenirs in the shops on the seafront made of materials specific to the area, or enjoy a fishing trip in the Danube. (bait can be found at specialized shops on the waterfront).

The trip includes:
- 3-night accommodation with half board in Mahmudia/ Beștepe region;
- 3-night accommodation with breakfast in Sulina;
- excursion "Discover Dobrogea" (monasteries, entrance with tasting at the "Crama Săpată");
- excursion to Letea Forest;
- city tour offered by the Discover Sulina Association;
- tourist assistance at the destination.

The price does not include:
- transport from the residence to Beștepe/Mahmudia and back;
- the optional excursions mentioned in the schedule;
- meals not included in the schedule;
- personal expenses.
