Dimitri Dinev's play "The Soul is No Joke" is a work that makes you sob and feel guilty for doing it, cry with one eye and look to the future with the other, want to be dead and at the same time live as you have never lived.
Their story begins in a small apartment in the centre of Vienna where the wife of the deceased Nikodim Austricul is waiting for colleagues from Serbia, Bulgaria and Romania to arrive for the wake. Things start to get messy when the guests are left alone.
Alcohol, grief, love and foolishness bring out the 'best' in the grieving colleagues and the debauchery begins. From the moment they decide to sit Nikodim down at the table for a small drink, everything quickly goes downhill and the madness is unstoppable.
A masterpiece that pushes you to look at your life, short as it is, and wonder if you've managed to do everything you wanted to.
